No matter how the U.S. Supreme Court rules on Obamacare this week, the progressive movement’s massive overreach with healthcare reform likely will go down as one of the biggest political mistakes in American history. (Read the full column at EWRoss.com)

There is all to much to agree with Ed, even while disagreeing. And “Converting a vision into reality, however, requires a strategy for success”, is profound and arguably the reason for so much disenchantment among liberals. That Obamacare plays a pivotal role is I believe an overstatement, since the majority don’t really understand the issue, only the soundbytes. That said, if Obama does win, it will certainly be a strong indictment of the conservative’s overt obstructionist policies during this term, and the Bush policies that preceded it. And Romney is not the man to beat Obama, so if Mitt wins, that will be an indictment of Obama’s failure to follow through. Just a few months left, and I can guarantee you one thing for sure – the day after election day will be nothing more than another day in our lives as this economy is born of bipartisan policies and will only be reconciled with bipartisan policies.

We shall see Ed. With the US spending far more per capita than any country in the world on Health Care and ranking 37th in Health Care performance it seems like we need to do something.
I also think you should be a little careful about hanging labels on people. I have often voted for Republicans that were not right wing ideologues and I am not part of any movement.

I agree with the scenario: “If the court upholds the law but rejects the individual mandate, the funding mechanism for Obamacare collapses; and even House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (R-CA), a prime driver of Obamacare legislation, agrees that the law can’t survive without the mandate.” No judge in their right mind would vote for the federal government to mandate their citizens into a specific kind of commerce!

Interesting take on his actions in the first term, and how he failed to capitalize when the odds where so strongly in his favor.

And the biggest political mistake was, of course, electing him in the first place!
Goes to show what happens when you have an uninformed electorate!

Democrats were clearly in the drivers seat in the 2008 elections. Republicans didn’t like hearing the Blame Bush theory and it worked well for getting Obama elected. Personally, I think there was enough validity to the theory to grasp the vote of many on the fence voters.
The way Obamacare was designed and the shady way it was passed against the will of roughly seventy percent of polled Americans made martyrs out of many representatives in the following November elections.
This current administration has done little to enhance employment opportunities or make any other economical advances in three and a half years. The spending and debt has increased in epidemic proportions. There is a clear and obvious attempt now being made to secure votes for Obama in the most desperate manor. He is now trying take the focus off his economical failures and making meaningless social issues his priority.

However this tax may be just what those undecided voters needed to make up their minds and vote against Obama

I think that would work if Romney and the Republicans vigorously sell it with a united front. However a Romney spokes person may have shot the campaign in the foot today calling it a penalty. Between now and the election it will be about the relentless sell and controlling the narrative.

Many people, especially those who support this travesty, do not understand what it is about. They think that this is about healthcare and about the benefits it provides. They don’t see the big picture. The Supreme’s have said it is OK for govt to control our behavior as long as they call it a tax. I would not be surprsed in a few years that somebody proposes that people be forced to buy daily vitamin supplements, because of the health benefits, or face paying a penalty for not doing so!
Congressman Dingell (D-MI) said it best in his Freudian slip when asked just after the bill’s signing in March of 2010 why most of the bill would be implemented in 2014. Dingell replied that it takes that long to put the regulations in place to control the people. Robert, you’re right-on when you say that half the folks don’t even know what the hell is going on.

Thanks Ted. It is comforting to know that there are people out there who do know what is going on!
This is going to be to paraphrase Jefferson, “a long train of abuses and usurpations”. Yes, you are right, Congress will deem vitamins necessary next or if you want to have that 20 ounce Coke at the ballpark with your hot dog with your kid, you are going to pay a 20%, 40% or whatever surcharge. This is where we are headed.

Romney needs to take the gloves off and yes I agree, it is game over if we do not win this one. But as radio talk show host Mark Levin has said, we need to win a string of elections to undo what the progressives have done over the last 100 years from Woodrow Wilson going forward. What Roberts did the other day in my opinion is tantamount to treason, he doesnt deserve to wear that robe and he practically rewrote the Affordability Act in order to make his opinion jive. And I am no legal scholar but I did read part of his opininon as it pertains to a tax and it doesnt make sense. He caved to the liberals and the media. Right after the decision he jets off to Malta. Nice. But Roberts, the President, the Congress and about 700 organizations are exempt from Obamacare. And the rich who can afford to see whoever they like. But for the majority of us working folk, whether in cubicle world, blue collar, small businessman, we are screwed. Freedom is not free.

Ha, ha. What the progressives have not done! What a joke. It is as out of touch over here as it is over there. Huge.

When court appointees put forward by a Republican president sides with the progressives it shows how far the courts have shifted to the left. Now that the Constitution is subject to whims of the moment, it has become a meaningless document.
In regard to how the Romney campaign reacts to the court ruling it is unclear. Romney’s rhetoric on the Mass. health care plan and his comments on Obama Care make the waters only muddier.
Conservatives have to have clear majorities in both Houses of Congress and Romney in the White House. The old theory that, “Republicans snatch defeat from the jaws of victory” may apply here.
My concern is that current Republican leadership is “Progressive Lite”.

Ridiculous. There is nothing “left” about Obama. He is your man, fully disguised. What this country needs is non-profit health care for all- paid for with good old American tax dollars and war and profit be damned.
