Whenever we embark on new endeavors, especially those that involve technology, we must be prepared for glitches. Sunday at 3:00 PM I did my premiere live broadcast of the Ed Ross Hour on the USA Talk Radio Network at blogtalkradio.com. My guest was Tom Garcia, a former U.S. Navy fighter pilot who ran for Congress in the 24th district of Florida in the 2010 election. Tom is currently a commercial airline pilot who make weekly runs to Latin America and he has his own show on the USA Talk Radio Network. It was Tom who interested me in hosting my own show.
The first problem occurred when the program went live at 3:00 and Tom couldn’t get his call through to the call number at blogtalkradio. When he did connect about seven minutes into the program, we had a strong echo. Finally around two-thirds of the way into the program and my interview with Tom everything appeared to be working.
When the program was over and I went to listen to the archived recording, however, the first two-thirds of the program were blank. I later discovered an error on my Skype settings that I accidentally corrected trying to figure out why we were having so much difficulty.
I downloaded the program and attempted to splice a recording of my introduction with the in-tact portion of Tom’s interview, but the file was damaged and there was no way to salvage the program.
I have recorded the opening six minutes of the show before the interview began and the last five minutes after the interview ended. Such are the problems we encounter. You can listen to the recorded program here.
My next live show is May 1 when my guest will be Rupert Hammond-Chambers of the U.S. Taiwan Business Council. Wish me luck.
